A weird notice shows up toward the beginning of the daily paper of a splendidly conventional little English village, "A murder is reported and will happen on Friday, October 29th, at Little Paddocks, at 6:30 p.m. Partners recognize this, the primary proposal." Miss Blacklock takes it in her walk and sets herself up to have visitors that night.
Normally, the villagers are captivated by this notice, and a few of them show up on the doorstep with ungainly reasons yet a positive intrigue. As the clock strikes 6:30, the lights go out and an entryway swing open, uncovering a man with a blinding light. In an intensely complemented voice, the man requests they "Stick them up!" Most of the visitors do as such, trusting it to be a piece of the amusement. The amusement closes when shots are discharged into the room. The entryway pummels close, and frenzy grabs hold: quite expeditiously, it's found that the wires are blown, the shooter has been shot, and Ms. Blacklock's ear is dying, clearly from a projectile's close miss.
